About COUGAR PASS RECOVERY RANCH INCORPORATED

Location:

936 Vista Ave, ESCONDIDO, CA 92026, US

Mission Statement

Cougar Pass Recovery Ranch is a therapeutic and adaptive equine riding center. Our lessons are geared towards helping people with social, mental, physical, and behavioral challenges. Our instructors tailor each lesson to meet the individual’s unique challenges and goals. In addition to developing mounted riding skills, our lessons also include horsemanship activities such as grooming, tacking, and leading. These activities help students gain confidence through the personal connections they establish with the horses and pride in task they accomplish.

Description

We are a small program just starting out but with more volunteers we can grow and impact the lives of even more students! Volunteers help groom horses, tack up, and set up for the lesson. They also side walk along the students to reiterate the instructor’s teachings and provide support for the safety of the rider. When/if they feel comfortable, volunteers can lead the horse during the mounted portion of the lesson.

No previous horse experience or experience working with those with disabilities is necessary.

Lessons are Tuesday-Sunday. Each lesson is an hour long. Ideally we would like the volunteers to commit to several lessons a day but we are flexible and can work with your schedule.
