Join us during this Earth Week's Community Garden Beautification Event to take meaningful action for our environment. Whether you're planting trees, restoring habitats, or taking our Climate Action Pledge, your efforts will help create a greener, healthier L.A. for future generations.
Why: At L.A. Works, Earth Week is more than just dates on the calendar -- it's a call to action for our community to help build a more sustainable and resilient Los Angeles. This year, our work takes on even greater urgency as we focus on post-wildfire support, climate disaster mitigation, and restoring native resilience.
Who: As a project leader, you will partner alongside L.A. Works and our Corporate Sponsor to help beautify a Community Garden Center at Seeds of Hope, whose mission is to provide garden-based nutritional education and practical cooking instruction to help our friends and neighbors live healthier.
What to Expect:
As a project leader, you will help lead volunteers in doing the following projects:
Community Garden Beautification
As a project leader you may also be asked to do the following:
Help unload the L.A. Works van and set up the various projects/activities.
Ensure volunteers are working safely, efficiently, and are having fun!
Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
Tools and gloves will be provided.
What's Required:
No experience necessary! Training will be provided day-of!
Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. standing for long periods of time, bending down, planting seeds, pulling weeds, sorting, packing, etc). There will be chairs provided for breaks as well.
Adults should be able to lift up to 15-25lbs (or ask for other tasks by emailing the Opportunity Leader).
You will be working outside so wear sunscreen and closed-toe shoes. It is also reccomended to wear a hat, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts.
A protective mask is reccomended to protect yourself from any lingering smoke/smog in the air left by the fires.
Snacks and water will be provided.
