Description:
Artists Talk On Art (ATOA), the longest-running independent art forum in New York City, is seeking a volunteer web designer with Squarespace experience to help refresh the look and layout of our website.
We’re in an exciting phase of modernization, and we’re looking for a designer who can help bring clarity, style, and cohesion to our digital presence while honoring the organization’s legacy in the art community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Redesign and restructure pages on our Squarespace site to improve usability and aesthetic
* Recommend layout and navigation updates aligned with ATOA’s evolving identity
* Incorporate archival content, event info, and visual assets into a clean and compelling design
* Ensure mobile responsiveness and user accessibility
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience designing in Squarespace
* Strong visual and UX design sensibility
* Ability to work independently with light guidance
* Prior experience with nonprofit or arts organizations is a plus
* Must be able to share a portfolio or sample of past work
Time Commitment:
* Flexible hours; estimated 5-10 hours total over a few weeks
* Remote position
Location:
Remote - NYC-based is welcome but not required

Founded in 1974, ATOA is the art world's longest running and most prolific panel discussion series. Over 8,500 artists and other art world members have been presented and documented in more than 1,400 events in New York City. The Archive of American Art of the Smithsonian is the official depository of all past and future ATOA audio and visual materials.
