Overview:
Food Rescue Heroes are the heart of REsq2Fed’s mission, ensuring surplus food reaches those who need it most. Using our mobile app, volunteers pick up food donations from grocery stores, restaurants, and other partners and deliver them to local hunger relief organizations. This role is flexible, impactful, and essential in fighting food waste and hunger in Oneida County.

Responsibilities:

• Use the Food Rescue Hero mobile app to receive real-time notifications about available food rescues.

• Claim or adopt food rescues that fit your schedule.

• Pick up surplus food from donor businesses at the scheduled time.

• Transport and deliver the food to designated nonprofit partners.

• Follow basic food safety and handling guidelines (provided during onboarding).

• Communicate any issues or updates via the app.

Requirements:

• Must be 18+ years old (or accompanied by a guardian).

• Reliable transportation

• Smartphone with the Food Rescue Hero app installed. (Available at the Apple Store or Google Play)

• Ability to lift moderate-weight food donations (varies by rescue).
