At first we will have a handful of classes, but as time goes the amount of presentations will increase and we look forward to training as many volunteers as possible. Some Event Assistants will also work directly with the presenters. Event Assistants are given access to classes except for certain more in-depth trainings that the teacher may require a lower fee. The topics are similar to those of the Open Center in holistic learning. The New Center NY follows in those footsteps as the only urban center of this kind presenting similar events to those seen at holistic retreat centers throughout the US.
Teaching topics can include spirituality, bodywork, environment, holistic petcare, writing, cooking, herbalism,indigenous teachings, psychology, arts and culture, and more. Being an urban center, presentations may be scheduled any day of the week, daytime and evenings.
Event Assistants are needed to help set up and break down classes, and if they have special skills in marketing, Audio/Visual skills, setting up a drive or storing information, accompanying a group on a small foraging trip and assisting the teacher and students, we appreciate the assistance in all these areas.. We currently work at a space at the Anthroposophical Society at 138 West 15 street, and Friday evenings at times at KollectivNYC, a modern spa in the East Village, and some space rentals. The teachers will be local, nationwide or international and some will have national fame. We look forward to working with as many helpers as possible to make this new organization with presentations in-person, hybrid or online a success.

Mission Statement
The New Center for Holistic Learning NY’s (New Center NY) mission follows in footsteps of the Open Center, and that is to bring holistic learning into the heart of contemporary society. It speaks especially to those who wish to live more in step with nature and a with a deeper understanding of both themselves and society. Founded in 2024 in NYC, the New Center NY offers live in-person, online and hybrid programs - workshops, trainings, lectures, and performances. We also offer international conferences/travel, the Art of Dying Institute which offers trainings on holistic approaches to death/dying, and much more.
Description
The New Center NY builds on the legacy of the New York Open Center, which served as the primary oasis for holistic learning in New York city from 1984 to 2022 and brought many outstanding events to the city to about 400,000 participants. Since its conclusion in 2022, there was a brief gap in city living for all those who sought more holistic or alternative education options on a regular basis.
The New Center NY continues the work of the Open Center and finds joy in serving the vast and varied multicultural worlds and communities that exist in the city.
We have five core areas of focus: the body and well-being, the psyche and inner development, spiritual and esoteric traditions, creativity and the arts, and the social and ecological transformation with an emphasis on the teachings indigenous cultures whose knowledge is so deeply needed to restore harmonious living on the planet and with ourselves.
