Organization: Amani Children’s Home & Foundation (ACH&F)
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: Part-time, ~10-15 hours/month
Duration: April - December 2025

This role is needed immediately to support execution of a short-term fundraising campaign that must raise $19,000 by June 30, 2025 to ensure program continuity during a critical transition in July.

Additional optional support through December 2025 is welcome, with a $39,000 goal to close 2025.

Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Organization

Amani Children’s Home & Foundation (ACH&F) is a registered US nonprofit operating a children's home in the Monduli District of rural northern Tanzania. Each year, we provide residential and home-based support to 50 of the region’s most vulnerable children. Our work spans emergency housing, trauma-informed care, educational equity, and sustainable food security.

In 2023, our impact reached new heights:

  • 100% of students graduated from primary and secondary school

  • 86% continued on to higher education

  • 9 out of 10 children reunified with family during their educational journey

Our programs are effective, scalable, and deeply community-rooted. However, with the rapid pace of reunification, our cost centers have shifted-and our financial model must evolve to match our mission’s success.

The Current Need

Due to a shortfall in external aid and shifting government funding timelines, we are urgently seeking a skilled fundraising consultant to:

  • Support an emergency fundraising campaign aimed at securing $19,000 by June 30, 2025.

  • Prepare with the organization for a transition in July, when a growing number of family-based services will require expanded case management, school re-enrollment support, and household assistance - needing clear donor communications.

Failure to meet this fundraising goal would result in significant disruptions to educational access, health care continuity, and reunification support for vulnerable families.

What We Have in Place

The Amani Foundation has already invested in a strong foundation for growth and execution:

  • A fully developed fundraising plan and segmented donor communications calendar

  • A clean, actively used donor database and CRM

  • Archived and updated brand, media, and storytelling materials

  • A collaborative team including U.S.-based and Tanzanian board members, ready to advise on and provide campaign content under consultant guidance

Scope of Work

This is a high-impact, short-term role requiring experience and autonomy. The consultant will be asked to:

  • Lead on the design and rollout of several April-June campaigns based on our plan

  • Draft and send donor appeals, arranging 1:1 pitch meetings

  • Provide guidance on leveraging existing donor relationships and databases

  • Support donor re-engagement strategies and mid-year donor impact reporting

  • Optionally execute Giving Tuesday and year-end giving strategies (July-December)

Required Qualifications

We are seeking a qualified candidate who brings:

  • 3-5+ years of demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising (individual giving, foundation, or campaign strategy)

  • Prior experience in planning or executing campaigns in the $10,000-$50,000 range

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce

  • Clear, persuasive writing skills and knowledge of donor engagement best practices

  • Sensitivity to ethical storytelling and child protection protocols

Prior work with international development or child welfare programs is a plus, but not required.

Timeline

April-June 2025 (Priority):

  • Collaborate with our team to implement and monitor a $19,000 short-term campaign

  • Ensure funding readiness for expanded service provision beginning July 2025

July-December 2025 (Optional Extension):

  • Provide strategic support for long-term donor engagement and holiday giving initiatives

  • Help position the organization for a strong 2026 campaign cycle

Mission Statement

Our core mission at Amani is to empower the future of our community through academic success, emotional development, and the physical well-being of the at-risk children and youth we serve. Unlike traditional orphanages, we not only provide a full-time residential program but also engage in various outreach initiatives. We prioritize long-term healing and family reunification. We lead the way with data-driven approaches to raising children, particularly in trauma-informed medical care, ensuring food security, and enriching their lives with art therapy, sports leagues, and wildlife conservation campaigns. Our commitment to environmental education, using innovative programs like nature journaling, sets us apart. We’re more than a children’s home; we’re a force of nature in social welfare and children’s development.

Description

Amani is completely not-for-profit. All donations are used directly for food, construction, school sponsorship, health needs and minimal overhead costs. Funds from donors contribute to immediate needs (such a monthly food expenses) as well as long term goals (such as expanding and improving Amani’s facilities).
