Whether it's you, your family, or your corporate team, we would love for you to join us! 2025 day volunteer opportunities are open now, and we need you! Navigate through our volunteer calednar to find the opportunities that interest you; the calendar is powered by Civic Champs, and you'll make an account when signing up!
We have volunteer opportunities in many areas, including:
- Recreation and Creative Expression Assistance, 9:30am-12pm - Assist at one of our morning activities (varies but my include horses, archery, slingshots, yoga, painting...)
- Sunshine Sub, 9:30am-12pm - Be one-on-one with a camper while a counselor gets a one hour break.
- Choice Time Activities Help, 2:30pm-5pm - assist with planned activities like a craft, calling bingo, or getting campers on the boat. Bring a bathing suit if you care to be in or around the water.
- Counselor Snack/Dinner Host, 8:30pm-9:30pm - Our counselors love to EAT! That's why we feed them every night at the counselor meeting. Volunteers are invited to bring in pizza, subs, tacos, BBQ, or fresh baked goods to feed 90-100 volunteers...skies the limit! Sign up today (with a friend or two?!? :) and we will be in touch in May to arrange details!
- Cabin Coverage, 8:30pm-11:59pm - Oversee a group of guy or gal cabins as campers settle in for bed in the evening and as counselors have their evening meeting. Must be 18+.
Any person that will be directly volunteering with campers must agree to a background check (embedded into our sign up forms).
Volunteers will sign a waiver during their sign-up on the Civic Champs platform
Volunteers under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult

Description
There is a joyful spirit about Camp Sunshine that is transformative for every person who participates. We promote through words and actions a culture that honors each person with total acceptance and unconditional love.
Since 1983, Camp Sunshine has offered individuals with cognitive/developmental disabilities summer camp experiences in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment. We offer multi-day overnight camp sessions with activities designed to meet participants’ recreational, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational needs. Uniquely, each camper is paired one-to-one with a volunteer counselor for their entire four days at camp. Camp Sunshine creates spaces for campers to feel included, learn from others, and grow in friendship. Within our programs, volunteers receive as much as they give and learn as much as they teach. Most of all, we have fun!
