ORGANIZATION: Passages Hospice

A hospice patient volunteer sitter provides companionship and support to hospice patients, ensuring they are comfortable and not alone when family or caregivers are unavailable. Their primary role is emotional support and presence, rather than medical care of physical assistance.

Engage in conversation, read aloud, listen to music or simply sit with the patient. You can offer emotional support by way of offering comfort and reassurance to patients and their families. You can offer non medical assistance providing light assistance such as offering a drink or adjusting pillows (but no medical care). You can give caregivers a break by staying with the patient for a few hours.

OUALITIES: compassionate and patient. Comfortable with silence and presence. Emotionally strong and able to handle end of life situations. And reliable and respectful of patient's dignity

If you would like to become a hospice volunteer, please reach out! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to give back and offer a much needed gift to hospice patients and their families.
