Need volunteer hours? We need volunteers! Join the City of Fairfax in promoting Bike Month! Students, community members who might be interested in getting some service hours, and/or residents who love biking, sustainability, health & fitness, community events, getting involved all invited to apply! If this sounds like you, sign up for one or more of the volunteer opportunities below!

  • Flexible Days/Times Between April 15 and May 10 -- Bike Month Flyer Distribution. Get the word out about the City’s Bike Month events. Volunteers will be asked to pick up flyers at City Hall and stop by local establishments around the city to request that they share them with their patrons either on a community notice board or leaving them with a stack of flyers.
  • Saturday, May 10, 9:30am -- Resident Ride at Old Town Square. Help man our community bike ride. Volunteers will be a sweep rider to make sure no one gets separated from the group.
  • Thursday, May 15, 5am-10am -- Bike to Work Day at Old Town Square . Staff our 'pit stop party’ to give away t-shirts, snacks, and other goodies, and to raffle off prizes from local businesses. Volunteers will help city staff set up tables, sign people in, give away treats, man our helmet exchange table, and break down the tables at the end of the event.
  • Saturday, May 17, 9am-4pm -- Kids Safety Day Traffic Garden at City Hall . Support our pop-up traffic garden where kids can practice biking and walking safety on a miniature road network. Volunteers will help city staff set up the table and traffic garden, give away information and goodies, man our helmet exchange table, help kids practice traffic safety, and help break down the traffic garden at the end of the event.
