Become a Walk to Defeat ALS Volunteer
The Walk to Defeat ALS thrives because of passionate volunteers like you-people who bring creativity, leadership, and heart to the fight against ALS. This year, we’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our Event Committees, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the success of the Walk and making a lasting impact in San Diego.
Committee Volunteer Opportunities1. Event Leadership Committee
Help drive the strategic vision of the Walk! Committee members collaborate with staff to:
Recruit and steward corporate sponsors and community partners.
Plan fundraising initiatives and outreach campaigns.
Engage teams and participants to grow Walk attendance.
2. Logistics & Operations Committee
Be the backbone of event execution by assisting with:
Vendor coordination (venue, permits, signage, etc.).
Volunteer recruitment and day-of logistics.
Accessibility and safety planning to ensure an inclusive event.
3. Community Outreach Committee
Amplify our mission by:
Securing in-kind donations (food, supplies, prizes).
Promoting the Walk through local media and social platforms.
Mobilizing schools, businesses, and organizations to participate.
Pre-Walk Support: Assist with mailings, data entry, and participant outreach.
Walk Day Crew: Help with setup, registration, cheer stations, and cleanup.

Our mission is to make ALS livable and cure it.
Description
We are the world's leading ALS organization made up of volunteers who are living with ALS, loved ones, caregivers, advocates and dedicated staff. Our goal is to make ALS livable for everyone everywhere until we can cure it.
On the ground in all 50 states we are providing support for people living with ALS and their loved ones while funding the most promising ALS research in the world. We are also leading local and national advocacy efforts to deliver more funding for ALS research and better policies for those impacted by the disease.
Thanks to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and the generous support of our donors we have been able to dramatically accelerate the fight against ALS by funding the development of new ALS treatments, by discovering new ALS genes, by creating new global research collaborations and by significantly expanding access to ALS care.
Our commitment is that every person with ALS, regardless of where they live should be able to access high-quality care and effective treatments.
