Mission Statement

OC Goes Solar (OCGS) is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to make solar energy, energy storage EV charging and other clean technologies accessible and affordable to all Orange County residents, especially to low-income and disadvantaged communities. we strive every day to reduce common barriers and advance equitable access to affordable clean energy and reduce harmful carbon emissions in our region.

Description

OC Goes Solar (OCGS) grew out of a discussion between three sustainability- minded Irvine neighbors in 2017. We discovered that many of our neighbors were unwilling to tackle the complex and daunting task of figuring out what they needed to know about solar energy to adopt it. We decided to do something about it. We banded together to bring reliable information to our neighbors, secure a group discount, and simplify the process of going solar.
Hundreds of successful projects later, OCGS partnered in 2022 & 2023 with the City Of Irvine to manage a city-wide solarization campaign with the goal of achieving the following:

(1) Support Irvine's goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2030, by increasing the number fo rooftop solar installations in the city.

(2)Educate the community about the benefits of solar energy, battery storage/backup, home Ev charging, including saving money on their energy bills.

OC Goes Solar has four main programs: Solarize Orange county, Solar On Multifamily Affordable Housing (SOMAH), Disadvantaged Communities-Single Family Affordable Solar Homes (DAC-SASH), and Flagship Projects.

Since our founding we have assisted over 500 homeowners go solar in Orange County.
