Join the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and play a vital role in disaster response efforts across Pennsylvania. As a volunteer, you will provide immediate assistance and relief to individuals and families affected by emergencies, offering critical support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Disaster Response: Deploy to disaster scenes to assess and assist those impacted .
Client Support: Conduct interviews with individuals and families to identify and address their urgent needs.
Shelter & Relief Operations: Help set up and operate shelters, distribute relief supplies, and organize mass feeding efforts.
Ongoing Training: Participate in regular training sessions to prepare for response efforts.
Technology Utilization: Effectively use smartphone apps and desktop software for case management and coordination.
On-Call Activation: When a disaster occurs during your assigned shift, the Red Cross Emergency Communications Center (Bridge) will call you to confirm your availability to respond.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress situations
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow response protocols
Flexible availability and willingness to deploy on short notice
Comfortable using technology for communication and coordination
