Are you passionate about sharing your skills and making a difference in the lives of young people? Join us as an Afterschool Volunteer and help equip our residents with valuable knowledge and experiences that will set them up for success!
How You Can Help:
Lead a skills demonstration - Teach a craft, trade, or hands-on activity
Host a life skills seminar - Budgeting, cooking, communication, or personal development
Offer career-building guidance - Resume writing, interview prep, or career exploration
Engage with students - Provide mentorship, encouragement, and real-world insights
When & Where:
Monday - Friday | 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Must be 25 or older to volunteer.
This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups to share knowledge, inspire growth, and build connections with our youth. If you can provide materials or supplies for your session, we’d love your support!

Mission Statement
The Mission of Landmarks for Families is to cultivate thriving children and families and to ensure all children will have loving and stable families that empowers them to lead successful lives.
Description
Landmarks for families is a non-profit organization offering shelter and support services to children who have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also provide mentoring and other services for at risk youth.
Programs associated with Landmarks for families include:
- The Beacon - A shelter serving runaway and homeless teens under 18 years of age.
- Bakker Career Center - A unique program delivering career education, workplace academic skills and personal development and life skills training to children and youth on our campus and within the surrounding community.
- Callen-Lacey Center for Children - An emergency shelter for abused, neglected or abandoned children up to 17 years of age in Berkeley County.
- Charleston Emergency Shelter - An emergency shelter for abused, neglected or abandoned children up to 17 years of age in Charleston County.
- Freedom Schools - An innovative program of the renowned child advocacy organization, the Children’s Defense Fund, that aims to inspire a love of reading while building self-worth among its participants.
- Ledford House - A group home for youth ages 14 to 20 for whom foster care placement or family reunification is not appropriate or available.
