ORGANIZATION: CHAMBER OF US

Are you a UX designer, product designer, or digital researcher who loves working at the early, messy, creative stage of a project - when nothing is polished, but everything is possible?

We’re looking for volunteer designers and product thinkers to help us shape the user experience and journey for Recipe Empire - an experimental platform focused on sustainable food and climate action.

Food systems account for nearly one-third of global emissions. The IPCC and leading climate researchers have identified shifting to sustainable, healthy diets as one of the most feasible, cost-effective ways to mitigate climate change. Recipe Empire aims to support that shift - by making sustainable, plant-forward, culturally diverse recipes and knowledge easy to find, share, and use.

We’re in the early stages of building the platform and need experienced product and UX minds to help shape the experience from the ground up. This is not a visual design gig - it’s about thinking deeply about structure, flow, and usability, and helping us make this platform usable and meaningful.

Where We Need Your Help:

We’re looking for volunteers who can:

* Help define user journeys and platform structure

* Conduct early-stage user interviews and gather feedback

* Identify key friction points and user needs

* Collaborate on wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes

* Shape onboarding, contributor submission, and content discovery flows

* Work closely with our development team to ensure the platform is usable and intuitive

* Document decisions and contribute to clear, flexible workflows

Who You Are:

* Experienced in UX, product design, or digital research

* Comfortable working in early-stage, lean environments

* Able to design user journeys and low-fidelity prototypes

* Skilled at facilitating user interviews and gathering actionable feedback

* A clear, collaborative communicator

* Bonus: Interested in food systems, sustainability, or social impact tech

Why Volunteer With Us:

* Help build an experimental, climate-aligned platform from the ground up

* Influence the product structure and user experience

* Work collaboratively with developers and mission-driven team members

* Flexible, fully remote

* No rigid time commitment - contribute when and how you can

* Gain real product-building experience with a clear social mission

About The Chamber of Us:

Recipe Empire is a project of The Chamber of Us (TCUS), a nonprofit using technology, data, and collaboration to address global challenges in sustainability, education, and health. Recipe Empire is specifically aligned with IPCC-recommended solutions to promote sustainable, healthy diets as a key climate action.
