Are you ready to be a mentor? Across Kenya, many Head Teachers are great teachers who have had the role of Head thrust upon them. Whilst a great teacher, many are lacking basic skills of leadership. Skills of conflict management, managing a team, inspiring those around you, setting clear direction and goals.
Skills that we posses through the business world are transferable and we are seeking people to commit to a year of mentoring a Head Teacher in rural Kenya. The role will involve meeting once per month, establishing the goals of the mentorship and guiding your mentee towards developing against their skills gaps. Not only will you benefit the Head Teacher, you will also be playing a vital role in enhancing the education delivered inside the classroom.

Mission Statement
At the Memusi Foundation (1133371) we believe that every person has a right to a quality education in line with the United Nations SDG4. Through quality education every child has the opportunity to escape poverty in their own lifetime. Through our research and experience we have demonstrated that there is so much more to successful education; access to clean water, access to healthcare, community empowerment and female equality being just some of the areas that ultimately lead to a more effective education.
Description
We are a charity registered in the UK, run by a board of volunteer Trustees, with just a single part-time UK based employee for administration. We work primarily in the Magadi region in Southern Kenya. We build and operate 3 of our own Schools and run an Outreach Programme that provides support for another 18 primary schools in the region to enhance education standards for over 8,000 children. We also use our own research and resources to influence positive change for education across Kenya more broadly.
The small scale of the Foundation means that there is a clear line of sight between a donation and a positive outcome. We do not have highly paid executives to dilute that value: every penny given to us will be spent on the project we raise funds for and the benefits can be clearly evidenced. We believe this differentiates us from many other larger organizations who also support worthy causes in Africa and elsewhere around the world.
