VRP Research Assistant

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Across all of our divisions within Redwood National and State Parks lies many essential teams, such as Visitor and Resource Protection. We are seeking volunteer assistance in the development of planning and standard operating procedure documents surrounding the sub-divisions of Emergency Medical Services, Law Enforcement, and Search and Rescue. Volunteer duties include but are not limited to:


· Assisting VRP with creating a Needs Assessment

· Researching policy and procedures

· Editing and writing job hazard analyses alongside division managers/supervisors

· Supporting the redevelopment of a Search and Rescue plan

· Other projects within the scope of technical writing with VRP


Qualifications:

· Previous experience researching and writing policy documents

· The ability to analyze level of risk and hazards related to the task

· Identify incident objectives in preparation for a potential incident response

· Critical thinking skills

The volunteer will be working under the division managers of Visitor and Resource Protection.
