Position Title: Treasurer

Reports To: Board Chair/President

Position Summary:
The Treasurer plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of the nonprofit organization. This individual ensures that the organization operates within its budget, maintains transparency in financial reporting, and adheres to all regulatory and ethical standards. The Treasurer actively collaborates with the Board of Directors, management team, and finance committee to develop financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight:
- Oversee the organization’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reports.

2. Budget Preparation:
- Collaborate with team to prepare and present the annual budget.
- Monitor budget performance and provide trends (if any) to the Board.

3. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed financial records, including income, expenses, and investment performance.
- Ensure all financial documents are properly archived and accessible.

4. Financial Reporting:
- Present proposed annual budget and proposed program budgets
- Present actual budget and prep for new fiscal year

5. Risk Management:**
- Ensure that the organization maintains adequate insurance coverage.

6. Fundraising and Financial Strategy:
- Assist in developing fundraising strategies and financial sustainability plans.
- Participate in donor communications and relationship-building efforts concerning financial matters.

7. Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure the organization adheres to all federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements i.e filing for 990

8. Board Engagement:
- Actively participate in Board meetings and relevant committee meetings.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit finance, including regulatory requirements and grant management.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment:
The Treasurer may dedicate up to 10 hours per month to fulfill their responsibilities, including preparation for and attendance at Board meetings, committee meetings, and other relevant events.

We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports is a non-profit athletic organization providing high-quality affordable programs for youths in collaboration with our community-based partners throughout the Greater New York Metropolitan area.

Description

While reducing the amount of time youth spend unsupervised at home and on the street, We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports is working to promote positive peer relationships, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We are teaching youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle through sports activities and expose youth to a variety of successful sports professionals, teach valuable life lessons, encourage and expose them to the idea of valuing higher education.
