The goal of the Visitor Center Information Desk volunteer is to interact with visitors and enhance their experience while at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge by providing information about wildlife, refuge activities, and resources. They greet visitors, answer questions, and give recommendations and directions. Volunteers will work during from 12 pm - 4 pm and sign up for their shifts a month ahead of time. Please note we are looking for someone with consistent Saturday afternoon availablity. No lodging will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete training with staff member on Information Desk procedures.
- Be aware of and able to describe Refuge rules, policies, and updates.
- Help keep brochures and maps stocked in the Visitor Center lobby.
- Answer visitor questions about Refuge. As needed, direct questions to staff that can answer other questions.
- Provide accurate information to visitors.
- Maintain professional and friendly composure
Qualifications:
- Good communication skills
- Patience
- Enjoys interacting with others
- Customer service background a plus, but not required
Training and Start Date:
- Training includes at least 2 shadowing opportunities of at least 2 hours, reviewing volunteer handbook, and receiving volunteer uniform components.
- Training can begin ASAP, with an ideal onboarding completion date of April 26th.
