The Blue Ridge Parkway is recruiting volunteers to assist with getting the Otter Creek Campground ready to open for our summer season. This volunteer workday will take place on Saturday May 3rd, 2025 from 9AM to 1PM. The Otter Creek Campground is located at milepost 60.9 near Big Island, Va.
Enjoy the great outdoors and fresh mountain air as you give back to your community. Bring your gloves, a rake and/or shovel, bucket, water, a snack, yourself and a friend. Wear long pants and closed toe shoes or boots. The work will primarily consist of picking up downed limbs, branches and sticks, raking leaves, cleaning firepits, and cleaning bear proof metal camper storage boxes.
