FAR is seeking volunteers to help make our 2025 summer camps something to remember!
Camp Sing Out is a musical theater inclusion camp for teens and young adults with disabilities. Unique to Camp Sing Out is its Theater Buddy program, which pairs campers one-on-one with typical volunteer peers. Theater Buddies support their assigned camper throughout camp as they learn the ins and outs of musical theater, from theater terms to costuming. Other camp activities include singing, staging, choreography, and art. The final day of camp features a full theater performance, complete with sets, costumes, sound, and lights.
The ideal CSO Theater Buddy is kind, supportive, communicative, and empathetic. While experience with theater or individuals with disabilities is helpful, it is not required. Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older and commit to attending the full duration of camp. Volunteer hours will be documented; letters of completion are available upon request.
Camp Sing Out is an incredibly rewarding experience. It is a great opportunity for those wishing to explore careers in the creative arts therapies, give back to their community, gain valuable practical skills, or complete their community service hours all in one go!

Enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities, regardless of age, through the power of creative arts and recreational therapies.
Description
FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing creative arts therapies to over 1,600 individuals with disabilities. Founded in 1951, we work with clients of all ages, introducing them to new activities and experiences, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and showing them new ways to communicate how they feel.
Through the dedication of our highly-trained staff and the support of partners and collaborating organizations throughout Metro Detroit, we offer music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for children and adults with a variety of diagnoses. We go into schools in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties to provide music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for students receiving special education services. We work to expose our clients to new avenues of expression which serve to improve how they relate and interact with their environments and families.
