PENCIL annually offers an exciting and unique volunteer opportunity called Principal For A Day(r). It is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025. We are targeting civic and business leaders with at least ten years of professional work experience to participate. Volunteers get to to be the "Principal" for a NYC public school. They have an opportunity to learn about the school’s management and curriculum. All visits include an opportunity to meet with students to share more insight into your industry and company. Description
In 1995, PENCIL launched Principal for a Day(r), an annual event designed to raise awareness about public education by having civic and business leaders serve as visiting principals in New York City schools. Twenty years later, PENCIL is the leader in creating innovative and impactful models of collaboration between the business and education communities. PENCIL works at the intersection of school needs and business expertise to bring together the best ideas, talent, and resources across sectors to improve public school and student performance and enhance workforce pathways.
