Volunteer Event Planner - STEM Summer Events
STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.
OVERVIEW:
Are you ready to bring some fun and excitement to STEM education? STEM Canada is looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Event Planners to join our remote committee and help plan our STEM summer events! We need creative, organized individuals to support the design and execution of engaging programs that inspire students and showcase the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math.
Location: Remote - In Canada
Duration: 4 months - From planning to event completion.
Hours per Week: Approximately 4 hours - Flexible, with virtual meetings and independent tasks.
Program Prep Locations: University of Calgary, McMaster University, Simon Fraser University, University of Waterloo, University of Toronto.
Duties
As a Volunteer Event Planner, you will:
- Brainstorm creative event ideas and activities that highlight STEM themes.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for events across the program locations.
- Collaborate with the team to secure resources, such as speakers, materials, or virtual tools.
- Support outreach efforts to promote events to students, families, and educators.
- Attend weekly virtual planning meetings (1 hour) and complete assigned tasks.
- Help adapt plans and solve problems to ensure events run smoothly.
Requirements
To thrive as a Volunteer Event Planner, you should have:
- A passion for STEM and making education exciting for students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a remote, virtual setting.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in where needed.
- Reliable internet access and familiarity with basic digital tools (email, Zoom).
- No prior experience is required--just enthusiasm and a desire to learn!
