GiGi's Playhouse Simi Valley is profoundly chanign the way the world views Down syndrome through FREE educational and therapeutic programs. We are piloting our Literacy Tutoring Program in the summer of 2025 with a target of opening our tutoring program as a regular program in the fall of 2025. We are currently recruiting and training volunteers for the Literacy Coordination Team.
Literacy Tutoring Team - Books and Materials
Books and Materials
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to volunteer and create materials for an hour or two each week. Multiple volunteers can fill this role each session.
Books and Materials Responsibilities:
· Communicate with parents to collect family pictures and assist in making the family unit books and flashcards for all new participants.
· Maintain the Playhouse’s literacy materials including Reading A-Z books, category units, phonics materials, etc., as requested by the Literacy Coordinator.
· Follow process set up by Literacy Coordinator to fulfill tutor requests in a timely manner
Each Playhouse can divide the Literacy Coordination tasks in a way that works best for their Coordination team.
