GiGi's Playhouse Simi Valley is profoundly chanign the way the world views Down syndrome through FREE educational and therapeutic programs. We are piloting our Literacy Tutoring Program in the summer of 2025 with a target of opening our tutoring program as a regular program in the fall of 2025. We are currently recruiting and training volunteers for the Literacy Coordination Team.

Literacy Tutoring Team - Tutor Trainer Role

The tutor trainer should be someone who has a solid understanding of the curriculum used in the GiGi’s 1:1 Literacy Program. They are instrumental in assisting tutors learn how to use the tools and curriculum provided as they tutor their student.

The Tutor Trainer role is a leadership role and requires a Volunteer with the following skill set:

· A willingness to learn the GiGi’s Playhouse 1:1 Literacy Program curriculum

· Excellent communication skills, positivity and enthusiasm for GiGi’s Playhouse

· Previous tutoring experience

Tutor Trainer Responsibilities:

· Ensure tutors have access to the Literacy Tutor Training videos in the GiGi’s Training Site to guide them through GiGi's Playhouse Curriculum and make sure they have access to and are using our program materials.

· Coordinate, schedule and facilitate the On-Site Workshop Trainings before each session

· Assist with the Meet and Greets at the beginning of each session. This may be a group event where everyone attends, or may happen during each individual first lesson

· Occasionally check tutor lesson plans and progress trackers and ensure that they are utilizing materials and curriculum to GiGi’s standards of excellence.

· Ongoing training and support for tutors throughout the session
