We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with our Wednesday morning school groups until the end of May from 9:30am-11:00am.
Volunteering is a rewarding, as well as, an educational experience. We are always looking for committed volunteers to help provide assistance to our students. Horse experience is valued but not required.
Volunteers can help groom, tack horses, serve as horse leaders, or walk along the rider’s sides in helping to support them. Learning to be a horse leader or side walker helps our riders enjoy a safe and educational riding lesson.
All volunteers must attend a brief orientation before they can volunteer in our program.
Riding horses is a physical activity that can offer many therapeutic benefits. Many riders experience a connection to the horse that few sports can create. The rhythmic motion of the horse acts as a powerful tool to improve documented benefits of strength, flexibility and balance. Riding also brings mental rewards and improves cognitive abilities.
Students have the opportunity to participate on horseback in a "sensory trail" which includes an element of educational tasks and spatial awareness and identity. Our sensory trail system, located in a beautiful serene location by the stable, allows the horse and rider to navigate the peaceful, shady pathways that wind their way around the wooded fringe of the property. We have designed our trail to provide visual, auditory, and tactile stimulation.

Mission Statement
Children of Promise Stable, Inc., is a Not-For-Profit 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt corporation, that provides professional equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) for both children and adults with special needs through a diversified equestrian riding program. Founded in 2001, we are a first-class facility designed to foster positive emotional growth, independence and improve the physical and social well being of our clients.
Description
We want to enrich lives of special needs individuals by promoting excellence in equine assisted activities. Our focus is on providing an equine program designed for each individual’s educational, physical, social and recreational goals. We look to encourage an "I can do it" attitude for those who have been previously limited in their abilities.
Riding horses is a physical activity that can offer many therapeutic benefits. Many riders experience a connection to the horse that few sports can create. For those riders who can not walk, the horse is their vehicle of transport. Horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to human movement patterns of the pelvis while walking.
The rhythmic motion of the horse acts as a powerful tool to improve documented benefits of strength, flexibility and balance. Riding also brings mental rewards and improves cognitive abilities.
