About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team as a Social Media Intern for the summer. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to take over and manage the local Our Blood Institute social media pages, primarily on Facebook, with an emphasis on developing and growing an Instagram presence.
As a Social Media Intern, you will work closely with our team to create engaging content, increase community involvement, and promote local blood drives. This role offers flexibility, but we are looking for someone who can commit to visiting our organization 2-4 hours a week to meet with our team and develop a content plan. You will be responsible for attending blood drives, coming up with original content ideas, and using your connections within the community to share local stories and inspire others to get involved.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and update OBI’s local social media pages (primarily Facebook, with a focus on growing Instagram).
* Develop and execute a content plan that increases community engagement and followers.
* Attend local blood drives and events to create live updates, share photos, and create stories.
* Create original content that highlights local donors, blood drives, and impactful community stories.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local donors, volunteers, and OBI employees.
* Collaborate with the OBI team to align social media efforts with community goals and initiatives.
* Use social media insights and analytics to track growth and engagement, making data-driven decisions for future posts.
* Share posts that highlight the importance of blood donation and encourage community participation.
Requirements:
* Must be a resident in the OKC area with a strong understanding of the community. Well connected with local individuals, businesses, and organizations.
* Strong written and visual communication skills with an ability to create engaging, relevant content.
* Comfortable attending and participating in blood drives and other local events.
* Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
* Passionate about community service and promoting lifesaving causes.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge and experience of social media trends, best practices, and community engagement strategies.
* A creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and develop unique content ideas.
