Hospice provides compassionate care for individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families so they may live as gully and comfortable as possible. One-way Gentiva Hospice achieves this is through our volunteer program. Volunteers provide important services to the patients/families we serve. Volunteers can be without patients when our nurses, social workers, or chaplains can't.

As a Gentiva Hospice Volunteer, you will be given the choice of how much time you want to volunteer and how you want to share your time, and talents with our patients. Typical volunteer activities include:

Engaging in patient hobbies, playing board games playing cards or discussing current events

Being a comforting and supportive presence

Listening to patient's concerns

Running errands or doing light housekeeping for the patient and family

Encouraging patients to tell their life stories

Providing time for the caregiver to take care of him or herself

Volunteers are never asked to do anything they're not comfortable doing. Your are provided with training to ensure they feel comfortable with their tasks. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to visit our patients, and submit to TB testing, drug testing, and a criminal background check.
