INTRODUCTION
Mi Casa Resource Center is seeking Spanish-speaking volunteers to help members of our community improve their digital literacy in our Digital Skills for Life course. Whether you are an experienced educator, tech enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys helping others learn, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact in your community.
Digital Skills for Life is a 13-week course for adult learners that takes place in Mi Casa’s computer lab. The course aims to overcome barriers to digital inclusion by empowering our participants to gain basic computer and digital skills, which can aid them in their career and business journeys.
PROJECT DETAILS
The Spanish Digital Class Teaching Assistant will support the instructor in teaching students digital literacy skills. This volunteer position provides an opportunity to gain practical teaching experience while helping students build essential digital skills for personal, educational, or professional growth. The role involves assisting with lesson delivery, supporting students in digital tasks, and ensuring a positive and engaging learning environment.
All curriculum and materials are provided by Mi Casa. Duties include assisting the instructor with the implementation of the curriculum and class materials, supporting the lead instructor during large-group instruction, and helping manage class progress throughout the duration of the course.

Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7:30 PM
QUALIFICATION AND COMMITMENT DETAILS
Proficiency in core digital skills is needed, and experience with digital literacy tutoring is preferred. Teacher assistants should be able to engage respectfully and warmly with adult students from a multicultural background. Spanish-language skills are required.
Classes are offered once per week for two hours. Teacher assistants will be asked to commit to most weeks of the session. Notice can be given for travel or other planned commitments.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in teaching basic computer skills to participants with little to no experience.
- Help guide students through lessons using computers, the internet, word processing, and email.
- Offer individualized or small group support to students who need assistance with using devices, software, or completing class activities in Spanish.
- Observe students’ progress and provide feedback to the instructor on students’ challenges and achievements.
- Foster a welcoming, patient, and encouraging classroom environment.
- Help with lesson preparations and classroom setup as needed.
- Support the instructor with administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, printing and managing student files.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth class operations.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills in Spanish (written and verbal).
- A basic understanding of computers, the internet, and Google Suite.
- Good communication skills and patience.
- A willingness to assist and work with diverse groups of learners.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus but not required. A strong interest in helping others learn is preferred.
- Reliable and committed to the full duration of the program (13 weeks).
