Become a CABBIE & Drive the Future of St. Louis Arts!

At CommUNITY Arts, we believe every St. Louis child deserves access to the transformative power of the arts. YOU can be part of that mission - not just as a volunteer, but as a mentor, a role model, and a vital connection on their creative journey.

As a CABBIE, you're more than just a ride - you're driving dreams.

Each week, you’ll safely transport young artists home from their after-school arts programs, but the real magic happens in those few miles: meaningful conversations, laughter, encouragement, and the chance to build trust and inspiration with the next generation of St. Louis creators.

By simply opening up a seat in your car once a week, you’re opening doors to a lifetime of artistic opportunities.

CABBIE Requirements:
  • Age 25+
  • Safe, clean, reliable car with available seats
  • Valid driver’s license & proof of insurance
  • Clear background & driving record (we cover the check!)
  • Completion of a free Mandated Reporter course
Your Role as a CABBIE:
  • Provide a weekly ride home (about 1 hour/week)
  • Build relationships & check in with parents
  • Get to know your CAB KID(s) - their passions, projects & performances
  • Cheer them on at shows, recitals, & showcases!
CABBIE Perks:
  • $50 Gas Card each semester
  • Access to specialized mentor training (Youth Mental Health First Aid, Trauma Awareness, more)
  • Free treats & outings with your CAB Kid (think ice cream dates, Nutcracker ballet trips, Cardinals games, art workshops & beyond!)

Mission Statement

CommUNITY Arts STL cultivates a vibrant and inclusive community where art and public health intersect, inspiring intentional and creative living. Through collaborative expression and meaningful engagement, we empower individuals to connect, heal, and thrive.

Description

CommUNITY Arts STL is an organization with a mission to cultivate community at the intersection of art and public health to inspire intentional and creative living. We envision a Saint Louis where social, mental, and physical well-being are nurtured through accessible artistic experiences. CommUNITY Arts STL believes in the healing and transformational power of the arts, and the arts should be accessible to all.

Our organization serves the community through two programs, CommUNITY Arts Bus (CAB) and Collective Motion. CAB provides financial and transportation scholarships to underserved youth in Saint Louis city and county to arts education and life-skill building resources. CAB was developed to remove financial and transportation barriers to after-school arts education for at-risk youth through partnerships with local arts organizations with available financial scholarships. Currently, CAB kids may choose between three local education pARTners Central Studio Academy, LitShop, or Pianos for People for their evening education.

Collective Motion is made of performing artists who create interactive experiences that educate and inspire all ages. The multimedia productions incorporate dance, poetry, visual arts, musical performances and media arts. Production experiences aim to inspire positive decision making through storytelling on the stage or in interactive gallery formats
