Volunteering at Plainsong Farm is about connecting to the earth, your neighbors and God. Though we need extra hands to care for this place and grow healthy food for our neighbors, we strive to make the volunteer opportunities holistic experiences. As you engage in service-learning you'll receive education on the tasks for the day as well as topics like regenerative agriculture, conservation and food systems.

People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. No previous experience or knowledge is expected! Supervised children are welcome. No dogs, please (working dogs accepted).

Mission Statement

Restoring connections between people, places, and God through regenerative agricultural practices, farm-based education and national leadership initiatives.

Description

Plainsong Farm & Ministry is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to cultivating connections between people, places and God by creating a place that nurtures belonging and the radical renewal of God’s world. Affiliated with the Episcopal Church, and open to all of every faith and none, Plainsong Farm is a living laboratory for ecological agriculture, farm-based education and discipleship, and food access and sovereignty in west Michigan. The farm is one hub in a growing national network reconnecting Christian discipleship and the care of creation through food and agriculture. A residential young adult service/learning program drawing applicants from around the country and strategic initiatives for wiser use of church-owned land extend our work beyond the farm itself. Founded in 2015 by self-funding volunteer partners and incorporated in 2019, Plainsong Farm now has a $300K annual budget, over 200 supporting members, a current donor retention rate of over 60%, and engaged volunteers and program participants making a difference both locally and nationally.
