Wheat Plains Community Garden, in the beautiful Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, is now accepting applications for new gardeners. The community garden is centrally located on the Pennsylvania side of the park, just a few miles south of the Dingmans Ferry Bridge on Route 209 near the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC). As part of the park's Open Space program, volunteers are assigned a 10' x 20' organic garden plot. Being a member of this community garden is free! The only requirement is that each community gardener volunteers at least 8 hours of time per year somewhere in the park. Any produce that is grown belongs to the gardener.
