ORGANIZATION: WELCOME HOME OF CHATTANOOGA

image_20250324153456

Dinnertime is special here at Welcome Home. It's a sacred time where our residents, volunteers, and staff can come together to share a delicious meal and open conversation.

We could use your help. Typically, our team is rather held up with caregiving and could use some help with providing meals for our residents. On average, we have around 12 people attending dinner or taking meals in their homes. The residents love when they get to spend time with the folks bringing their meals, but it is definitely not a requirement to stay.

Dinner is typically served around 5:30PM. You can drop off the day before/day of or cook in our kitchen.

Meal examples include Publix fried chicken, casseroles, BBQ, soups, Chinese food, etc.

About WELCOME HOME OF CHATTANOOGA

Location:

3131 QUIET CREEK TRL, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37406, US

Mission Statement

Welcome Home of Chattanooga’s mission is to create a community of hope, healing, and compassion for those who are facing a serious illness or death and need safe shelter.

Description

Welcome Home of Chattanooga began in 2015 with six friends of diverse backgrounds gathering together in prayer and mindfulness, recognizing a need to serve those who are terminally ill. With encouragement from the community, we were able to turn "we wish" into "we can!" Since then, we have expanded to include our cancer respite program and a Graduate Support system which enables us to help those who have been found permanent housing.

Welcome Home provides:

  • A growing community of care and shelter. We currently have one 4-bedroom hospice home and two 3-bedroom homes for cancer respite.

  • Warm meals and comfortable living spaces

  • Support through trained staff and volunteers

  • Partnerships with local agencies that provide professional care

  • A place of support and community for those in need

  • Assistance with applying for appropriate benefits for residents

  • Education for students and the community regarding the discussion and care around death and dying
