Help strengthen our systems so we can better serve neurodivergent learners

The Academy for Precision Learning (APL) is a K-12 nonprofit school in Seattle offering inclusive, individualized education to neurodivergent students, including those with autism and complex support needs. As we continue to grow and prepare for a campus move, we are seeking a volunteer IT professional to conduct a high-level audit of our current systems.

What We're Looking For:
We need a knowledgeable volunteer who can help us assess our current IT infrastructure, identify gaps, and offer recommendations. This includes:

  • Reviewing our current systems for data security, backups, network setup, device management, and overall functionality

  • Identifying risks, redundancies, or inefficiencies

  • Suggesting cost-effective tools, processes, or vendors

  • Advising on scalable tech solutions that can grow with us as we expand to a new location

Ideal Volunteer Has:

  • Background in IT systems, cybersecurity, or tech infrastructure (experience with nonprofits or schools is a bonus!)

  • Ability to translate technical recommendations into actionable steps

  • Comfort working independently with periodic check-ins

  • Commitment to 6-10 hours total, flexible scheduling (can be split over 2-3 weeks)

Why It Matters:
APL is a mission-driven school with limited internal IT capacity. Your time and expertise will directly impact our ability to safeguard student data, maintain secure and efficient systems, and make informed technology decisions as we plan for our future home.

To Apply:
Please respond on VolunteerMatch and include:

  • A brief summary of your relevant experience

  • Why this opportunity speaks to you

  • Your general availability

We’re grateful for your time and talents-and excited to strengthen our systems with your help.
