About Us:
Women for Conservation is a grassroots nonprofit that empowers women to protect biodiversity in most threatened ecosystems. Our work is rooted in the belief that conservation and gender equity go hand-in-hand. We support women-led conservation initiatives on the frontlines of environmental protection, particularly in Colombia-one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet. Our impact reaches globally through awareness, advocacy, and collaboration with international partners.

Position Overview:
We seek a passionate and creative Volunteer Communications Writer to help share the powerful stories of women protecting wildlife and habitats. The writer will support our global communications efforts by crafting compelling content for blogs, newsletters, social media, fundraising campaigns, and donor reports. This role is perfect for someone who wants to combine storytelling, conservation, and women's empowerment-while amplifying local voices for international audiences.

Language Requirements: Native English speaker; Spanish (basic conversational preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit stories about our conservation work and the women leading these efforts

  • Develop blog posts, newsletters, and social media content to reach our global audience

  • Assist with grant storytelling, and campaign messaging

  • Conduct interviews (virtually or in-person) with community members and staff

  • Help maintain a consistent and inspiring voice across platforms

Qualifications:

  • Native English speaker with excellent writing and storytelling skills

  • Background or interest in conservation, gender equity, or international development

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with nonprofit communications is a plus

  • Spanish proficiency is an asset but not required

Women for Conservation partners with women around the globe to protect endangered wildlife and their habitats. Our organization empowers women in rural communities with access to conservation education, sustainable economic opportunities, and reproductive healthcare. We work in the most biodiverse and ecologically vulnerable areas in the tropics and where biodiversity needs urgent help, training the next generation of environmental stewards to protect critically threatened species.
