Position: Director of Programs & Services

Position Type: Volunteer

Commitment: Flexible, 5-10 hours per week (depending on availability)

Location: Remote

Reports To: CEO

Overview
The Director of Programs & Services oversees FMSN’s core offerings to foreign-born military spouses. This includes specialized support for immigration, career advancement, education, finance, resource development, and events. The role ensures these programs are culturally relevant, impactful, and aligned with FMSN’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Strategy & Development

  • Design and refine programs addressing spouse needs (immigration, career, finance, etc.).

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  1. Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise sub-positions (Immigration Support Coordinator, Career Support Coordinator, Education Support Coordinator, Finance Support Coordinator, Resource Guide Manager, Events Coordinator).

  • Provide training and feedback, maintaining consistency and quality across programs.

  1. Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Establish KPIs to measure program success (e.g., number of spouses assisted, credential recognitions).

  • Collect participant feedback to improve offerings.

  1. Budget & Resource Allocation

  • Oversee program budgets, ensuring responsible use of funds.

  • Identify resource gaps and propose solutions to the Executive Director.

  1. External Partnerships

  • Partner with nonprofits, agencies, or experts to expand program capacity.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships & Fundraising to align funding with program priorities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in program management, social services, or community development.

  • Skills: Strong organizational and people skills.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with military spouse and immigrant integration challenges.

The Foreign Military Spouse Network (FMSN) is a community-driven organization that empowers and supports foreign-born military spouses. Founded by spouses for spouses, FMSN provides resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy to help members navigate military life.

FMSN offers career development, mentorship, and education to help spouses grow personally and professionally. Through support groups, social events, and discussions, we foster a strong and inclusive community.

We also advocate for the unique needs of foreign-born military spouses by providing workshops, informational resources, and tailored programs.

Volunteers are essential to our mission. Whether through community engagement, event planning, or mentorship, there are many ways to get involved.
