Time Commitment:
Flexible shifts, typically 2-4 hours per shift, depending on project needs.
Tasks are often scheduled during weekdays or weekends based on volunteer availability.
The Grounds and Maintenance Helper will play an essential role in maintaining the Latino Center of Arts and Culture’s exterior spaces and ensuring the facilities are clean, welcoming, and well-kept. This volunteer opportunity involves a variety of tasks such as lawn mowing, pulling weeds, painting, and basic repairs. No prior experience is required-just a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the upkeep of our space!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lawn Care and Gardening:
Mow the lawn and trim edges to keep outdoor spaces neat and tidy.
Pull weeds, trim shrubs, and maintain garden beds to ensure they are well-kept.
Assist in planting or watering new plants and flowers, as needed.
Painting and Touch-Up Work:
Assist in painting outdoor furniture, fences, or any areas requiring touch-ups or maintenance.
Help maintain and beautify the exterior of the building by keeping it fresh and inviting.

Latino arts programming. Founded at
California State University at Sacramento in
1972, the organization - then La Raza
Bookstore - was rooted in Sacramento’s
Chicano community and deeply committed to
Chicano and Indigenous arts advocacy. For
over 40 years, the Bookstore and then La
Raza Galería Posada has served Chicano
activists and artists through our visual art
exhibitions, poetry readings, film screenings,
live performances, educational workshops
and by maintaining a permanent collection of
Chicano visual art.
