Do you want to use your skills to help survivors of abuse and exploitation? We need you!

Operation Safe Escape is seeking a Video Editor, responsible for editing and preparing video content used in training, awareness, outreach, and internal communication. This role ensures that all video materials are clear, professional, and accessible, with a focus on visual and audio quality, clarity of message, and consistency with Operation Safe Escape’s branding and mission.

Video Editors work closely with trainers, awareness team members, and other contributors to create impactful videos for survivors, partners, volunteers, and the public. This includes editing raw footage, correcting visual or audio issues, adding overlays, and formatting for different platforms and audiences.

WHAT THE ROLE LOOKS LIKE

Video Editing and Post-Production

The Video Editor manages the post-production process to turn raw footage into polished, purposeful content. The editor:

  • Edits video for flow, timing, and clarity, removing unnecessary content and tightening narratives.

  • Corrects lighting, color, or sound issues to ensure consistent quality across projects.

  • Balances audio levels, removes background noise, and improves speech intelligibility.

  • Adds transitions, background music (as appropriate), and titles for a clean and professional presentation.

Graphic and Text Overlays

To improve clarity and engagement, the editor integrates visual elements into the final product. The editor:

  • Adds subtitles, closed captions, and other accessibility features.

  • Inserts graphic overlays, icons, text boxes, and animations to highlight key information.

  • Ensures overlays align with the visual identity of the organization.

Formatting and Delivery for Multiple Platforms

Different platforms and audiences require unique formatting. The editor:

  • Formats videos for various platforms including social media, training portals, presentations, and webinars.

  • Ensures correct aspect ratios, resolution, and file types based on distribution needs.

  • Delivers final videos in requested formats and provides thumbnails or short clips as needed.

Collaboration and Creative Input

The Video Editor collaborates with content creators to understand and deliver on project goals. The editor:

  • Works closely with trainers, awareness leads, and project managers to align editing with intended messaging.

  • Provides creative input on how to enhance video content through pacing, design, or storytelling techniques.

  • Manages timelines and communicates progress or obstacles to the appropriate team members.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar.

  • Familiarity with audio editing, color correction, and motion graphics.

  • Ability to create accessible content, including subtitles and clear visual design.

  • Understanding of different video formats and best practices for platform-specific optimization.

  • Strong attention to detail and creative storytelling instincts.
