CloseKnit is a small but powerful organization working to catalyze system change and address youth homelessness, particularly for BIPOC youth, through chosen family arrangements. As we gain momentum-especially with our advocacy efforts like the Right to House Youth Act-we urgently need to upgrade our website to better reflect our mission and impact.
We are looking for a skilled web developer/designer who can volunteer their time and expertise to help us enhance our website. Most of our funding goes directly to staffing and programming, so additional support in this area would be invaluable.
How You Can Help:- Improve the design and functionality of our website ( www.closeknit.us)
- Ensure it is user-friendly, engaging, and accessible
- Help us better communicate our mission, impact, and resources to our growing audience
- Your work will directly support a community-driven, cost-effective, and innovative approach to ending youth homelessness.
- We will acknowledge your contribution in our newsletter (with over 1,100 subscribers) and on our website.
- You’ll make a tangible impact on an organization that is actively shaping policy and community solutions.
If you are passionate about using your skills for social good and want to help us strengthen our online presence, we would love to hear from you!
Interested? Please reach out to us at hello@closeknit.us to discuss how you can get involved.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful impact!

Mission Statement
Our Vision We see all youth facing homelessness as already loved, especially youth from underestimated and under-resourced communities. Our Mission CloseKnit catalyzes system change, building a holistic response that overcomes racism to honor and invest in existing "chosen family" arrangements that prevent youth homelessness.
Description
When we ask young people dealing with housing instability, "What do you most need?" they tell us "Love." Yes! Even young people living in their cars during the Minnesota winter. Youth also tell us about the people in their lives who care about them-their best friend’s mom, a neighbor, a cousin who lets them sleep on the basement couch....
But these caring connections are typically overlooked, especially if they are in BIPOC communities. CloseKnit is working to invest in these vital networks-launching resource hubs at youth drop-in centers, advocating at the Minnesota legislature to fund a "chosen family" pilot & sharing our eye-opening research at international conferences!
