Are You Ready to Help the Idaho Youth Ranch Tackle a Feathered Fiasco?

We’re looking for passionate volunteers with experience in getting rid of pigeons and wildlife management, who are eager to help us manage a flock of feathered mischief-makers (aka pigeons!) causing a little too much chaos in our barn. If you're skilled in humane bird control and know how to handle pigeon problems effectively, we’d love to have you on board!

What’s the Job?
You’ll roll up your sleeves, work outdoors, and use your pigeon management skills to help the Idaho Youth Ranch get rid of these pesky birds. All of this will be done with a focus on safe, humane handling of wildlife.

Who Are We Looking For?

· Pigeon-Pro: If you have experience in bird control-particularly with pigeons-we want your expertise! You know the tricks to safely and humanely handle pigeons and help clear them out.

· Reliable & Responsible: We need someone who can follow through, complete tasks, and work well with others.

· Wildlife Warriors: If you’re passionate about managing wildlife and want to make a difference at the Idaho Youth Ranch, you’ll be a perfect fit!

Ready to join us and make a real difference? We need your help to keep the ranch in top shape for the kids! Let's tackle this feathered problem together and make it a fun, rewarding experience for all involved.

What will the volunteer be doing: As a volunteer at the Idaho Youth Ranch, you’ll be the hero of the barnyard, helping us manage our pigeon problem and ensure the ranch stays bird-free! Your mission will include using humane, safe methods to evict those pesky pigeons from the barn, setting up traps, and installing bird deterrents. You’ll work outdoors and collaborate with a great team to make the ranch a safer place for the kids and the horses. It’s a fun, rewarding experience where you’ll gain new skills, help the community, and be a part of something awesome. Let’s tackle this pigeon problem together and have a blast doing it!

Why is this job needed or important: This job is important for keeping the animals and staff safe at the Idaho Youth Ranch. The birds are damaging the property, disrupting the environment, and could spread diseases. By managing the bird population, volunteers will help protect the ranch, reduce health risks, and create a safer, calmer space for everyone. This work supports the ranch’s mission to provide a safe place for youth and animals.

Contact: Nate Gilbert, Volunteer Services Manager at 208-972-5373 or volunteers@youthranch.org to become a part of the Youth Ranch mission

Where will the volunteer be working: 28371 El Paso Rd, Building A, Caldwell, ID 83607 at the Idaho Youth Ranch, located near the barn with horses and the children’s campus.

When will the volunteer be needed/how often:

· Regular Hours: Monday through Friday

· Weekend Availability: Weekends are also available, if preferred or needed.

Volunteers will be needed often, especially when the birds are most active during the day. The frequency of volunteer involvement will be high, and we encourage participation as much as possible! This will continue until the bird population decreases and the goals are met. Volunteers may be needed multiple times a week, depending on bird activity.

About Idaho Youth Ranch

Location:

Mission Statement

The Idaho Youth Ranch creates promising futures through courageous transformations.

Description

Every child is born full of promise, and every child deserves a promising future.

The Idaho Youth Ranch has been helping good kids on a dangerous path find promising futures for more than 60 years, with youth programs and services through the state.

We offer emergency shelter, residential care, substance abuse treatment, job readiness training, alternative education, adoption services, family counseling, and more for at-risk kids and their struggling parents and families.

No matter what a child is up against, the Idaho Youth Ranch can help.

Every kid who comes to us faces their own unique challenges and issues. So we adapt our services to meet their needs, instead of the other way around. The Idaho Youth Ranch approach is to intervene early, when our help can do the most good; treat the whole child, not just one symptom; and finish the job by sticking with each kid as long as they need us.

Our work would not be possible without generous donations from people like you.

Thanks to our donors and our statewide network of 29 thrift stores, we can help kids and families effectively and immediately even if they can’t afford the entire cost of care.

Whenever you make a cash donation, shop at one of our stores, or donate items we can sell, you become part of our promise to Idaho’s kids. Thank you!
