Position Overview

The Grassroots Organizing Fellow will focus on mobilizing activists, engaging community members, and supporting local and national campaigns aimed at demilitarization and reinvestment in public services. This role involves direct outreach, organizing events, and working with advocacy coalitions to build momentum for peace-focused policies.

This fellowship is ideal for students or recent graduates with experience or interest in community organizing, advocacy, social justice, and movement-building.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with community members, activists, and partner organizations to build support for PEP’s campaigns.

Develop and implement grassroots advocacy strategies to mobilize people around demilitarization and economic justice.

Organize and support events, rallies, and educational workshops to raise awareness about military spending and alternative investments.

Assist in volunteer recruitment and engagement to strengthen PEP’s advocacy efforts.

Create outreach materials, including flyers, petitions, email action alerts, and organizing toolkits.

Coordinate meetings and trainings for activists and community members to build organizing capacity.

Support PEP’s legislative advocacy efforts by mobilizing grassroots pressure on policymakers.

Track and analyze grassroots engagement metrics to assess campaign impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in community organizing, political science, public policy, social justice, or a related field.

✔ Passion for economic justice, demilitarization, and peace activism.

✔ Experience in campaign organizing, advocacy, or movement-building is a plus.

✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse communities.

✔ Ability to facilitate workshops, trainings, or public events.

✔ Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.
