The Sankofa Heritage Collective of Morris County is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich history and cultural heritage of the African American community in Morris County. The Sankofa Heritage Collective of Morris County is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of African Americans in Morris County. Through exhibits like Ties That Bind, the Collective highlights the deep-rooted connections between Black families and the county’s historical landscape. By partnering with historical societies across the region, the Collective ensures these stories are included in public archives, educational programs, and cultural events. The Collective’s work fosters greater understanding, connection, and appreciation of African American heritage while empowering communities to embrace a more inclusive historical narrative.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 4-6 hours per month. This includes attending quarterly committee meetings, reviewing materials beforehand (1-2 hours).
  • Provide strategic guidance to help shape the Collective’s programs, initiatives, and partnerships. Support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and securing financial resources. Serve as an ambassador for the organization.
