Description:The Volunteer Services Mentor will provide guidance and support to our Volunteer Services staff and interns. With expertise in volunteer recruitment, outreach, and management, they will empower their mentees to enhance and expand our volunteer program. By fostering professional growth, ethical conduct, and strategic thinking, they will contribute to our mission of restoring hope and supporting our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor 5 to 10 interns in the Volunteer Services department.
  • Mentor staff in career progression, learning opportunities, and skill development related to volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Share insights on best practices for volunteer outreach, engagement, and retention.
  • Oversee and assist in various development and operations of the Volunteer Services department, including but not limited to:
    • Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and engaging volunteers.
    • Developing outreach strategies to attract and retain volunteers.
    • Implementing policies and procedures to ensure a positive volunteer experience.
    • Evaluating volunteer performance and satisfaction to determine areas of improvement.
  • Develop and manage training and development opportunities for Volunteer Services staff and interns.
  • Provide support and guidance to the executive director, fellow management, and other staff when complex and sensitive volunteer-related issues arise.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Background in volunteer management, nonprofit administration, human resources, or related fields preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices in volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention preferred.
  • Experience in community outreach and relationship-building with volunteers preferred.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Volunteer must have the appropriate technology, internet connection, and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams.

Time commitment:

  • 5-10 hrs./week including mandatory meetings
  • 1 year minimum
  • Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings
    • All staff meeting: Tues 9-10am PST
    • HR Dept meeting: Tues 2:30-4:30pm PST
    • Monthly meeting with Thaddeus' president: usually the 4th Thursday of every month from 3-4 PM PST
