The fellow will contribute to PEP’s advocacy efforts by producing policy briefs, reports, and articles that challenge the prevailing narrative that national security is dependent on militarization.

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Conduct research on military expenditures, arms sales, and U.S. foreign policy in conflict zones.
✅ Analyze how military spending contributes to global instability, displacement, and human rights violations.
✅ Develop policy briefs and reports proposing peace-oriented alternatives to military interventions.
✅ Track Congressional defense spending proposals and legislation relevant to peacebuilding efforts.
✅ Support PEP’s Move the Money campaign by identifying opportunities for budget reallocation.
✅ Assist in drafting op-eds, blog posts, and advocacy materials to raise public awareness.
✅ Attend and summarize relevant webinars, policy discussions, and legislative hearings.
✅ Work collaboratively with PEP’s team to develop policy recommendations for grassroots and legislative advocacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
✔ Background in peace studies, international relations, political science, public policy, or a related field.
✔ Strong research and analytical skills with experience in policy analysis.
✔ Ability to write clear, compelling, and well-researched policy documents and articles.
✔ Passion for peacebuilding, demilitarization, and social justice advocacy.
✔ Experience with data analysis, international organizations, or legislative research is a plus.
✔ Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
What You’ll Gain:
⭐ Hands-on experience in policy research and advocacy.
⭐ The opportunity to publish your work on PEP’s website and in external publications.
⭐ Insight into how U.S. military spending shapes global conflicts and alternatives for peace.
⭐ Networking opportunities with peace activists, policymakers, and international organizations.
⭐ A strong foundation for careers in policy analysis, international affairs, human rights, and peacebuilding.
