Savannah Care Center, a faith-based nonprofit pregnancy resource center, is seeking compassionate and empathetic Peer Support Coaches to provide grief support and spiritual healing to women who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy through miscarriage or abortion. In this role, you will offer a listening ear, emotional encouragement, and guidance, helping women process their grief in a safe, non-judgmental space. This is not a licensed therapist position, but a peer-based support role focused on offering personal, heartfelt, and faith-based support through difficult times. Your understanding and dedication will help these women feel heard, validated, and empowered on their path toward healing.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with women who have experienced pregnancy loss to provide emotional/spiritual support and guidance
- Provide referrals for professional mental health or spiritual support as needed
- Provide ongoing encouragement and support as clients progress on their healing journey
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while showing compassion for each individual’s unique situation
- Lead/facilitate individual or group bible study using provided materials and resources
- Participate in training and development to provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate support (training will be provided at no cost to volunteers).
Requirements:
- A heart for serving others and a commitment to supporting women in need of healing
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and create a safe, non-judgmental environment
- A willingness to learn about the resources available to clients and how to best support them
- Must be able to meet with clients in person at the center
- A background check and 24 hours of self-paced, online training will be provided
- Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Faith and Vision and Mission Statements.
