Volunteer Fundraising Manager
Location: Remote (Open to candidates nationwide)
Commitment: 1-3 hours per week (flexible)
Opal’s Heart is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Prince George’s County, MD. We assemble and distribute Care Bags filled with hygiene products, socks, bottled water, and non-perishable snacks, as well as Care Meals on Outreach Days, to unhoused neighbors throughout the Metropolitan D.C. area.
We operate without paid staff or a physical location, running the organization from our homes and vehicles. In 2023, we distributed over 700 Care Bags and aim to increase that number annually as we grow.
Do You Have a Passion for Helping the Unhoused?We are seeking a Volunteer Fundraising Manager to support our mission by developing and managing fundraising efforts. This is a remote role that offers flexibility and an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
If you have experience organizing events, developing donor relationships, and crafting effective fundraising strategies, we’d love to have you on our team!
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising:
Develop and implement clear fundraising goals and strategies that align with Opal’s Heart’s mission.
Plan and lead fundraising campaigns that reflect the values of our organization.
Donor Development:
Identify, cultivate, and grow donor pools.
Build and manage relationships with key donors, including handling VIP donors personally.
Maintain and enhance donor databases, track contributions, and send acknowledgment communications.
Collaborative Outreach:
Build partnerships with other organizations to strengthen fundraising opportunities.
Work with team members to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals.
Communicate regularly with the President to share updates on fundraising progress and successes.
Event Management:
Guide the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring they are impactful and well-coordinated.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, with 3+ years leading major campaigns.
Prior experience working with non-profit organizations.
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Expertise in donor relations, event planning, and financial management.
Critical thinker and problem solver who can adapt to challenges.
Highly self-motivated, with strong time management and teamwork skills.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with best practices in fundraising across diverse audiences.
Training on organizational processes and expectations.
Flexible hours and remote work environment.
