Special Olympics Florida is excited to host the State Summer Games on May 16th & 17th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports!
We invite volunteers to register for the following opportunities:
- Set-up Assistant: Help get the event ready the day before the competition. Help unload vehicles, organize and distribute items throughout the complex, place out signage, etc. **Should have the ability to lift at least 25lbs**
- Lunch / Dinner Assistant: Assist with distributing meals to athletes and volunteers
- Registration Assistant: Assist with checking in and organizing volunteers prior to competition.
- Sports Volunteers - Athletics (Track & Field), Basketball, Bocce, Cheerleading, Cycling, Team Soccer, Soccer Skills, Softball Throw: Help with multiple aspects of competition including checking in athletes, escorting them to/from the fields of play, scorekeeping, managing equipment, etc. Some volunteers in this role may also assist with preparing and presenting awards to athletes.
- Healthy Athletes: Check in athletes, engage them in games, and distribute prizes as they complete multiple health screenings at Healthy Athletes.

- Logistics Crew: Assist with distributing ice and other equipment to the fields of play. *This role requires the ability to lift at least 25 lbs. and to drive a motorized golf cart (a valid driver's license is required).
- Awards Announcer: Use a provided script to announce athletes as they are awarded their medals. Volunteers should have a public speaking or acting background and be comfortable using a microphone.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt, and those working shifts of four hours or more will also be provided with lunch.

Description
Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.
