Mission Statement

Our mission is to fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and to promote women's rights in The Sahel. We hope to see a world where women have access to services that meet basic needs, create an environment for women to thrive, and facilitate development in their communities. We are committed to consistently delivering exceptional results while leaving a lasting impact within communities. Our vision is to create a peaceful and conducive Sahel free of gender-based violence. We visualize placing programs and services that will eradicate gender-based violence, serve people and support community growth, and where impoverishment is replaced with empowerment. We anticipate rebuilding a fair, habitable, safe, productive, and thriving community; one that inspires and protects its women.

Description

Justice And Dignity For the women of Sahel Inc. is a nonprofit organization of reflection and initiatives whose main objective is a merciless fight against physical and psychological violence against women and girls in the world and particularly in the Sahel region in Africa.
The Sahel region is populated by a wide variety of ethnic groups, that have historical conflicts that have been further aggravated by ongoing insecurity, leading to social fractures in these communities. Their main activities are agriculture, livestock, fishing, and the exploitation of natural resources. While these activities constitute opportunities for growth, they also contribute to conflicts between herders and farmers. With climate change, natural resources are becoming scarce, and the effects of climate change continue to render poor communities more vulnerable. In the midst of such scarcity, herders and farmers are continuously disputing water, pasture, and land usage. Since 2009, the Sahel crisis is deepened with consequences such as an increase in the number of refugees and internally displaced persons with issues as closed schools (due to destruction, armed conflict), and violence (child rape, harassment, child marriage, forced marriage, etc.), JDWS aims to provide solution-based activities centered on advocacy, sensitization, communication to fight to end the main issue which is gender-based violence for women and girls in the Sahel.
