We've Got Friends is a nonprofit with several locations that creates inclusive social spaces for teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to form meaningful connections with their peers. We host hangouts and special events where teens can make friends, share their unique talents and abilities, strengthen their sense of belonging, and gain self-confidence along the way. Our programming is also free to participants and their families.
Our services are free, so we depend on the generosity of our volunteers, along with grants, donations, and fundraisers, to continue making a positive impact in our communities. Throughout the year, we host various fundraisers, some of which require volunteers to be 21 or older. We’re building a team of volunteers who can assist with these events, with 3 to 10 opportunities available annually. This is ideal for someone who wants to volunteer occasionally.
If you're looking for a flexible and fun way to contribute to an organization in many different ways, but don’t always have a lot of time to commit, this could be the perfect fit for you! Please email: volunteer@wgfnj.org and add the words FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER to the subject line for more information.

Mission Statement
We've Got Friends mission is to provide an engaging social environment where teens with special needs can interact with their peers, fostering connections, a sense of community, social skills, confidence, and socio-emotional health. All of our programming is free; as one of our core values, we believe cost should not limit your access to friendship. We help build social circles through engagement and genuine interactions.
Description
We provide the opportunity and activities for teens with special needs ages 7-21 to establish their own connections through common interests. WGF currently runs a variety of social groups in multiple chapters, serving hundreds of teens annually, including a virtual group that meets multiple times per week. We also offer special event days, which provide our teens with opportunities to go on developmentally-appropriate outings including baseball games, rock climbing, art events and more. None of this would be possible without the help of our volunteers who help facilitate our hangouts both in person and virtually. The little time you spend with us makes a big difference!
