Position Overview
The Associate Programs Director is a key leadership role within Surmount New York, responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and execution of Surmount’s programs. Working closely with the Programs Director and other leadership team members, the Associate Programs Director will help ensure Surmount’s initiatives effectively connect New Yorkers with essential resources, develop community partnerships, and empower individuals to overcome challenges.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about community engagement, program development, and fostering sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of Surmount’s programs, including the Resource Fellows Program, Opportunity Fair, and PB&J Drive.
  • Help design program structures, curricula, and engagement strategies to enhance impact.
  • Coordinate logistics for program activities, ensuring smooth execution.

Volunteer & Community Engagement

  • Support recruitment, training, and management of program volunteers and fellows.
  • Foster strong relationships with community leaders, participants, and partners.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to program participants.

Operations & Coordination

  • Assist with program scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
  • Ensure alignment between programs and Surmount’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with other Surmount teams, including Operations and Marketing, to promote and enhance programs.

Evaluation & Impact Assessment

  • Track program participation and collect feedback to measure success.
  • Assist in refining programs based on data, community needs, and best practices.
  • Support grant applications and reporting by providing program impact data.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in program coordination, community engagement, or a related field (volunteer experience welcomed).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for Surmount’s mission and community-driven initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Time Commitment & Expectations

  • Volunteer Position: Flexible, estimated 5-10 hours per week, depending on program cycles.
  • Reports to the Programs Director and collaborates with the Executive Team.
