Position: We are looking for parents, caregivers, therapists, child advocates, early childhood educators (daycare workers or teachers) and more to come into our Wellness Team on 65square. What is 65square? It's the world's healthiest social media platform we're currently developing.

Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings)

About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

We are seeking passionate and qualified individuals to join our team as Parents/Early Childhood Educators/Social Workers. This role involves working collaboratively with families, children, and community partners to foster positive developmental outcomes for young children. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of early childhood education principles, social work practices, and family dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Support to Families:

  • Provide individualized support and guidance to parents and caregivers in navigating challenges related to child-rearing.
  • Conduct home visits to assess family needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate parenting workshops and support groups that promote effective parenting strategies.

Early Childhood Education:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate educational activities that enhance children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Collaborate with other educators to create inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse needs.
  • Monitor children’s progress through assessments and observations, adjusting educational plans as necessary.

Social Work Services:

  • Assess the social, emotional, and environmental factors affecting families’ well-being.
  • Connect families with community resources such as healthcare services, housing assistance, and mental health support.
  • Advocate for families within the community to ensure access to necessary services.

Collaboration & Community Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with local schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to create a network of support for families.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness about early childhood development issues.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and social work.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of family interactions, assessments, service plans, and progress reports in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Prepare reports on program outcomes for funding agencies and stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

  • MUST be 18 years and above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience working with young children and their families in an educational or social service setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development theories and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of local resources available for families is highly desirable.

Work Environment: This position may require flexibility in hours including evenings or weekends based on program needs. The role involves both office-based tasks as well as fieldwork within the community.
